About John Eric Schmidt

A Trusted Voice for Pepper Pike.

My career - leading global teams and driving information technology operating plans at Lincoln Electric, Deloitte, and PolyOne Corporation (now Avient) - focused on tactical planning, cross-functional collaboration, and effective problem-solving. I have balanced vision with daily execution to deliver results on complex projects and manage sophisticated IT systems. I built my foundation in organizational responsibility through IT audits and managing IT security and compliance, learning the importance of oversight and accountability. Throughout all my roles, I have prioritized efficiency, transparency, and the responsible use of resources. These are the same principles I will bring to City Council, offering experienced and thoughtful leadership to the Pepper Pike community.

Outside my professional life, a lifelong love of nature continues to ground my approach to service. That passion began early, volunteering at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, where I cared for wildlife and trained raptors. The experience shaped my enduring commitment to environmental stewardship and the protection of green spaces. I remain dedicated to championing responsible land use and environmental mindfulness, making certain that Pepper Pike’s unique character and natural beauty are thoughtfully safeguarded for successive generations.  However, I also welcome the thoughtful evolution of a city that values both its roots and its future.
